Mirissa is a small town located on the south coast of Sri Lanka. It belongs to the Mathara district and there are about 240 kilometers from Colombo.

Mirissa has a stunning crescent beach where many people get attracted. And it is very much famous for the coconut palm and polhena beach. You will find modest guesthouses abound and there's a string of simple restaurants at the back of the sand. In recent years Mirissa has developed a reputation as a party destination for young travelers, and in high season DJ spin pumping tunes till late several nights a week. If you're looking for solitude and zen-like calm, this may not be the beach for you.

Mirissa Beach is a good spot to start surfing in Sri Lanka. The waves look great and since there’s just little crowd, surfers really love being here. Surf from October to March for ideal surfing conditions.
