Hiking is a long-distance walk usually on trails or footpaths in the countryside. Normally hiking is done in a mountain or a rock. This was first done in 18th century for romantic purposes. Later this idea was spread throughout the world and now it has become very famous among travelers.

Camping is also a part of hiking. Since some hikes are very long it takes more than a day to complete. On such occasions, hikers set up camps in a suitable position to get rid of rain, animals and other treads. So hiking and camping are bonded together.

Different items are used while hiking depending on the length of the hike. Basically a map, compass, rainproof gear,

hiking shoes, a flashlight, sun protection instruments, a first aid kit, and a self-defense kit must be there with a hiker. Other than that it is very important to take enough nutrition items and water as required. So hiking is an amazing experience of adventure, leisure, self-satisfaction, confidence and sometimes romance.

Sri Lanka is a very special hiking destination. There are trails for all sorts of experience, from easy walks to more intense treks. Sri Lanka also has over 400 waterfalls, a visit to which is included in plenty of hikes. Here are some of the best hiking and trekking trails in Sri Lanka.
